Cozy Moment: A Resort-Style Pediatric Dental Clinic

Creating a Clean, Bright, and Functional Space

Upon entering Cozy Moment, visitors are greeted by two counters and a waiting area outlined by soft arcs. The ceiling and floor of the waiting area have been preserved to maintain the original conditions of the space. The staircase planning adds a touch of tranquility, transforming the waiting area into a place for rest and peace of mind.

The design incorporates raw and rustic elements such as rattan and wood, giving the laminates and furniture a unique visual effect. The use of different techniques in piecing together the wood grain creates differentiation in the details. Herringbone or vertical piecing is used for the wood grain, while large areas are painted with matte paints, providing a beach-like, silky finish reminiscent of a resort-style atmosphere.

The Cozy Moment dental clinic spans a 161.9-square-meter pre-owned storefront, housing four clinics, a sterilization room, an X-ray room, a counter area, a waiting area, and a children's playroom. The circular layout of the waiting area is maintained, allowing for a natural division of the space. Curved windows connect each area, while arches create interesting divisions, adding visual interest to the overall design.

The counter area is a focal point of the space, meeting the staff's needs for height, ergonomics, spaciousness, and storage capacity. The arc design, wood grain, and rattan elements in the counter area make it visually striking, leaving a lasting impression on visitors. Additionally, a children's playroom is incorporated, providing a comfortable and spacious waiting area where parents can watch their children interact with each other.

The Cozy Moment project was completed in Taipei City, Taiwan, starting in July 2022 and finishing in October 2022. The design process involved extensive research to create a resort-like atmosphere within a dental clinic. The challenge lay in presenting a style that had no existing reference points, requiring the designer to start from scratch and retrieve elements that evoke a resort ambiance. The result is an uncomplicated design with visual comfort and a minimalistic color palette.

The Cozy Moment pediatric dental clinic successfully combines functionality and aesthetics, creating a space that breaks away from the traditional image of a dental clinic. The use of building materials, such as terrazzo walls and colorful chairs in the clinics, adds liveliness and eliminates the typical sense of dread associated with dental visits. The resort-like elements transport patients to Bali, providing a unique and enjoyable experience.

Cozy Moment was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023. This prestigious award recognizes designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
